Superfood & Summer Berries Smoothie

Superfoods & summer berries – does it get much better than that?

This started off as a green smoothie with cucumber, spinach and avocado but the gorgeous weather this week in Scotland has left me feeling all summery!

Last week I had stocked my freezer with a batch of frozen berries (perfect for the end of the week when the fresh one are all gone). So out came the frozen mixed berries along with some fresh pineapple and little fresh organic apple juice. I added all of these to the blender with a dessertspoon of maca and tsp of spirulina.

If you have been feeling bit run down and overwhelmed then maca could be perfect for you. It is fantastic for supporting your adrenal and balancing your stress hormones. If you have never tasted it before It has a natural flavour -sweet with a hint of caramel. I love it in smoothies and raw chocolate.

Maca-Sumer-Berry-Smoothie

Ingredients

1 whole cucumber chopped
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of fresh apple juice
1 cup of chopped pineapple
1 cup of frozen mixed berries
1 avocado peeled and destoned
1 tsp of spirulina
1 dsp of maca

Instructions

Add all the ingredients to a high powered blender and whizz. Serve in a large mason jar with a metal straw.
